Deus & Romain – An Outdoor Forest Wedding in Milly-la-Forêt, Île-de-France
Milly-la-Forêt sits roughly 50 kilometres south of Paris in the heart of Île-de-France, and it is one of those places that tends to make photographers fall slightly in love with their own job. The Forêt de Fontainebleau begins at its edges, the light filters through ancient canopies in ways no studio can replicate, and the village has the kind of unhurried character that naturally slows a wedding day down to its proper pace. For couples looking for an outdoor wedding in France that is close enough to Paris to be accessible but far enough removed to feel genuinely away from it all — Milly-la-Forêt is difficult to beat as a setting.
Deus and Romain married at the Mairie de Milly-la-Forêt — the town's historic city hall on Place de la République — before moving to an outdoor ceremony beneath a wooden pergola set deep in a garden, surrounded by guests and lush greenery in equal measure. The exchange of vows happened in full afternoon light, with confetti filling the air the moment it was done. What followed was the kind of unscripted celebration that outdoor settings in rural France tend to produce naturally: guests spilling onto the lawn, a bouquet toss that turned into a small competition, and a circle of dancing that started early and showed no sign of stopping — all of it lit by that particular golden-hour quality that Île-de-France delivers in summer.
As the evening moved indoors, the venue revealed a completely different character: ornate stone arches, a spiral staircase, warm interior light, and the kind of historic atmosphere that purpose-built event spaces simply cannot manufacture. The indoor reception had the energy of a party that knew it was worth remembering. Rockbride Studio's approach in spaces like this is to follow the room rather than direct it — reading where the real moments are about to surface and being in position when they do, rather than arranging them.
This gallery contains 249 photographs covering the full wedding day. The coverage moves from bridal preparation through the outdoor ceremony, the garden reception, and into late-evening portraits back in the forest. The edit mixes colour and black-and-white — selected not for stylistic uniformity but for what each individual image asks for. Some moments in natural forest light gain something from being reduced to tones and shadow; others — the confetti, the dancing, the colours of the guest dresses against the green — want to stay exactly as they were.
